Verification Plan (or Test Plan) and Coverage Plan are two documents that specify the features to be tested in the verification process. The first document usually lists the DUT features that need to be covered and the latter - the coverage points that need to be collected. A third document that usually accompanies these two is called the VE Description Document (or Verification Spec or Whatever-They-Call-It-At-Your-Company Document).

One of my former colleagues once revealed the fact that she had no less than 70 pairs of shoes. That’s right, seventy! She had been very good at her job and by no means had any plans to start her own shoe business so I asked myself why on earth would anyone need seventy pairs of shoes? Aren’t 5 enough?

If you’re using Specman GUI to run simulations you must have encountered this rather annoying feature before - When running several simulations during the same session, specman doesn’t clear the log file by default so what you get in the end is a concatenation of all log files which makes it kind of - how to put it nicely -  useless.

In today’s short post what I’ll try to do is share with you some of the recent trends and ideas that deal with coverage. I won’t go into much technical detail today in order not to wear you (and myself) out, but really - if I want to be more catholic than the pope (the pope of verification that is), each of the terms I’m going to mention probably deserves its own article.
